About Mandurang Valley
Wes and Pamela Vine's first vines were planted in 1976 when it became obvious that a hobby farm at Mandurang Valley would not be sustainable. With both having a passionate interest in wine and winemaking, the first vintage was produced in 1980 for their consumption, with friends gaining the benefit of the excess stock!
In 1992, a limited license was obtained to make a sale of excess stock along with testing the market. All the stock sold in a day! With this success, Mandurang Valley became a commercial venture in 1995, with the Vine family becoming sole owners in 1998. Vintage has continually increased each year along with Wes making contract wines for others.
With a science degree and a Diploma of Agriculture, Wes's grape growing and wine making has provided an application for his formal training. Travelling widely throughout Australia and Europe has further increased his knowledge and expertise.
Wes and Pamela's son Steve, along with his wife Jacqui, have developed a 2ha vineyard only a five minute drive from the winery. Both take on an active role in grape production and winemaking meaning Mandurang Valley is truly a family run business with Pamela running the kitchen, Wes, the wine maker, Steve, viticulturist and emerging winemaker and Jacqui assisting in the vineyard and cellar door.
Grandson's Tristan and Oliver are waiting in the wings and can often be seen helping out around the vineyard!
